Traffic Exchanges - drive a swarm of visitors to your site!

Traffic Exchanges - or Hit Exchanges as they are sometimes called - provide an excellent free method of driving high numbers of targeted visitors to the website of your choice.
The concept behind Traffic Exchanges is simple - “you view my site and I’ll view yours” After joining a TE, you simply log into your account and surf for credits for around 30 minutes or so a day. This involves looking at a number of single web pages promoting a variety of different products and services - a high percentage of which are of interest to anyone trying to earn an income online. After you have viewed a page for between 6 and 20 seconds, depending on which TE you are using, you are usually asked to click on a symbol to verify you’ve surfed the page, and then you’re given a credit. The credits can later be exchanged for guaranteed visitors to your own site. Most sites offer bonuses providing you surf a set number of pages in any one session. The more you surf - the more bonuses you will get. They also offer generous incentives for anyone who introduces somebody new to the program. this is usually in the form of extra credits, but cash bonuses are also available.

I’ve read many e books and articles which tell you that you need to join as many Traffic Exchanges as possible if you want to see any sort of results. However... I’m going to totally contradict this theory (and I’m speaking from experience) and tell you that where TEs are concerned the key word is quality not quantity. There are hundreds of exchanges out there but some of them are as good as useless and you could waste hours of your precious time surfing for virtually no return if you choose the wrong exchange and you don’t follow a few simple rules.
The first point you need to take into consideration is that most people surfing the exchanges are sellers not buyers, who are clicking furiously from one page to the next in order to earn credits to promote their own business. You will be completely wasting your time if you use an information loaded affiliate page to promote your product in any of the Traffic Exchanges. You have a 10 second window to grab the attention of your fellow exchange surfers, so it is really important that you use a snappy, show stopping ”splash” page which they can’t fail to sit up and notice. You’re not trying to sell your product, you’re simply trying to tempt your visitor with your splash page - so make sure you have some mechanism in place to capture their name and e mail address so you can follow up at a later stage.
Many online money making programs provide you with ready made splash pages, but if you really want to stand out from the crowd, it’s well worth considering creating your own. Don’t worry if you don’t own your own website or you have no web design skills, because there are several free programs which have taken all the hard work out of the process for you. I’ll talk in more detail about some of these a little further down the page.

Which Traffic Exchanges Should You Join?
A really excellent free program worth joining when you’re unsure about which Traffic Exchange to join is Traffic Hoopla. Every week the site owner publishes lists of the top 10 - 20 Traffic Exchanges as voted for by their users. You can join any of the TEs featured directly through the Traffic Hoopla site, add your unique user name for each program featured in your private members area, then anyone else you refer to the program - and who joins one of the TEs through Traffic Hoopla automatically becomes one of your referrals. Even if you don’t want to take advantage of the downline building aspect of the program, it’s an impartial and really useful resource recommended by many of the top internet marketers.
When surfing the TEs you will save masses of time if you use what is called tabbed browsing. This means you can have multiple windows open at any one time and surf several TEs at the same time. Tabbed browsing is available through Internet Explorer, but I’ve found it much quicker if you use the Mozilla Firefox browser. You can download it here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
To make the maximum use of your time I advise you not surf any more than 5 TEs at any one time. Some exchanges work hand in hand to give you more credit for your click and you can earn some substantial bonuses by grouping them together as outlined below:
Traffic Splash, I Love Hits, Dragonsurf and StartXChange are collectively known as the Super Surf Traffic Exchanges. Between them they have a massive 300,000+ members and that figure is increasing on a daily basis. The bonuses on offer vary from day to day but you can expect to earn at least 50% up to as much as 150% in extra credits for every page you surf at the four exchanges, providing you surf them all at the same time. Each week you will find a different guest exchange joins forces with the four main Super Surf Exchanges and you can earn even more bonuses by surfing this additional exchange at the same time too.
Hit Safari, Soaring 4 Traffic and Real Hitz 4 U have linked up to offer you Power Surf Central. Daily bonuses are offered each day providing you surf a minimum of 100 sites at each exchange. In addition to extra credits, each Sunday, you’re invited to take part in “Power Surf Sunday Thunder”, where members have the chance to win one month’s free upgrade at any of the three exchanges as well as additional credits and guaranteed cash providing you surf a minimum of 200 pages at each exchange. If you do decide to take advantage of the Power Surf Central bonuses, make sure you follow the instructions which can be accessed from the “Power Surf Central” button within the members area of each participating program.
When I’m surfing the three Power Surf Central TEs I also surf WebBizInsider and Top Tier Traffic at the same time. These two sites have a joint membership of over 182,000 and are both owned by Matthew Graves. In addition to surfing for credits, you will receive regular e mails from other members containing credit links. By clicking these links you can very quickly earn hundreds of extra credits which in turn makes a huge difference to the amount of times your page is shown to other members. With Top Tier Traffic you are also awarded “position points” depending on how many sites you surf each week. Your points are totaled at the end of each week and you are then allocated an instant downline for one whole week, who you can contact directly with details of your opportunity. The number of people in the downline is based around how many position points you’ve earned.

EasyHits4U has over 195,000 members and is regularly featured in Traffic Hoopla’s top 10. What I particularly like about this exchange is the fact that you can target visitors from specific countries, which can be very useful depending on what product you are promoting. Members are offered the chance to win extra bonuses for every 25 pages surfed as well as being awarded guaranteed cash for every 1,000 pages they surf. There’s an articles directory which members can post to and a reciprocal link directory also. Click Voyager has over 85,000 members and makes surfing much more fun by giving you extra credits for playing different games. Every Monday members are given 50% extra credits for their surfing activities and there are regular contests every day. You will also be able to create your own unique splash pages through both EasyHits4U and Click Voyager using a very simple system that allows users to input their chosen text, font size, colors, images and URL into a simple form. Once you’ve done this you can view and edit your page until it looks the way you want it to. EH4U also provides tips, tricks and video guides and examples of other sites created with the same system.
Another Traffic Exchange which allows you to target visitors not only by country, but by their interests too is TrafficG. This TE provides the best surfing ratio for free members. After you’ve surfed so many pages and completed a number of what are known as “skill cards” you can build up to a ratio of 110%. TrafficG has a 20 second timer so you’ll need to surf this exchange alongside of a number of others for maximum effect, but your hits are delivered immediately and I’ve found the results to be excellent.
Hit2Hit is consistently voted the number one Traffic Exchange by Traffic Hoopla members and it’s easy to see why. With a fast 6 second timer and regular generous bonuses whilst you surf you really do get more credit for your click. There are cash prizes for those who refer the most members and free yearly and monthly upgrades on offer all through the year. It’s a simple, straight forward layout and although this TE does not work hand in hand with any of the other exchanges, because of it’s 6 second timer it can easily be worked alongside just about any other Traffic Exchange.
Blue Surf, Royal Surf and Traffic Witch are all part of the Elite Surfing Club. In addition to the regular bonuses awarded at each of the TEs individually, you will be awarded between 10% and 30% for surfing between 50 and 250 sites 4 days a week at all three TEs. If you do decide to join the Elite Surfing Club you will need to click on the “Elite Surf Club” button found in the members area of all three participating exchanges and enter your unique IDs.
