Part 2 - Register With 15 Traffic Exchanges
As I mentioned at the start of this guide the key to success with PTC/PTR programs is entirely dependent on how many referrals you have in your downline. Because the programs are 100% free to join you’ll find they are pretty easy to promote using certain methods. One of the easiest and most effective ways is through Traffic Exchanges.
What is a Traffic Exchange?
The concept behind TEs is simple, ie: “You view my site and I’ll view yours”
After a very simple registration process, you log into your account and surf for credits for a set amount of time each day by looking at single web pages promoting a variety of different products and services. After viewing the site for between 6 and 20 seconds (depending on which TE you are using) you are usually asked to click on a symbol to verify you’ve viewed the page before being able to move on to the next. Once you’ve done this you are awarded credits, which can later be exchanged for guaranteed visits to your own site. Most sites offer bonuses providing you surf a set number of pages in any one session. The more you surf - the more bonuses you will get.
I’ve read many e books and articles which tell you that you need to join as many Traffic Exchanges as possible if you want to see any sort of results. However... I’m going to totally contradict this theory (and I’m speaking from experience) and tell you that where TEs are concerned the key word is quality not quantity. There are hundreds of exchanges out there but some of them are as good as useless and you could waste hours of your precious time surfing for virtually no return if you choose the wrong exchange and you don’t follow a few simple rules.
The first point you need to take into consideration is that most people surfing the exchanges are sellers not buyers, who are clicking furiously from one page to the next in order to earn credits. You will be completely wasting your time if you use an information loaded affiliate page to promote your product in any of the TEs. You have a 10 second window to grab the attention of your fellow exchange surfers, so it is really important that you use a short, sweet ”splash” page which they can’t fail to sit up and notice. You’re not trying to sell your product, you’re simply trying to tempt your visitor with your splash page - so make sure you have some mechanism in place to capture their name and e mail address so you can follow up at a later stage.
All of the downline building programs listed on the Paid to Click Programs page include their own predesigned splash pages, which you will be able to use as a member but it’s well worth considering creating your own splash page too. Don’t worry if you haven’t got a web site or any web design skills, because there are several free programs you can join which do all the hard work for you. One of these is Click Voyager This program is essentially a Traffic Exchange, but allows free members to design up to 3 unique splash pages simply by inputting their chosen text, font size, colors, images and URL in clear and simple form. Once you’ve done this you can view and edit your page until it looks the way you want it to. Another is Easy Splash Builder where you’ll find a video guide of how to create an effective splash page as well as examples of pages that have attracted a high click through rate using the same system. This is free to join also.
To see any sort of results you need to be looking at surfing at least 100 pages per session per exchange x 5. If you use the tabbed browsing facility in Firefox, described in Part One of this guide above, you can comfortably surf 5 TEs at a time, which roughly equates to 750 sites for one hour of surfing.
Which Traffic Exchanges should you join?
Your next task is to join 15 TEs and if you take a look at the How to Use Traffic Exchanges page of this site I’ve included reviews and links to the Traffic Exchanges I personally use on a regular basis - all of which deliver consistently good results and some of which work hand in hand to generate you additional bonuses. I’ve also placed the TEs in groups and given you specific instructions about how you can get the highest number of credits for your click. You can join all of the TEs directly from this page.
Most of the TEs offer generous incentives to anyone who refers somebody new to their program. You are usually awarded extra credits each time your referral surfs, meaning more site visits for you each week. This can also potentially save you hours of additional surfing time each week. If you’re interested in building a dowline in each exchange you join, a really excellent free program worth joining is Traffic Hoopla. Every week the site owner publishes lists of the top Traffic Exchanges as voted for by their users. You can join any of the TEs featured directly through the Traffic Hoopla site, add your unique user name for each list in your private members area, then anyone else you refer to Traffic Hoopla and who joins one of the TEs automatically becomes one of your referrals. It’s an impartial and really useful resource even if you don’t take advantage of the downline building aspect of the site.
Which ever method you choose for joining your 15 TEs you will need to refer back to the members area of your chosen downline building program to copy the URL of your unique splash page exactly as shown and paste it in the “websites” area of each TE joined. After you’ve inserted the URL, most TEs have a system for automatically checking your site before it “goes live”. You generally need to click on two verification links before visitors will be delivered to your site.
Once you’ve decided which TEs you’re going to join, you’ll need to bookmark all of the log in pages in a new folder called “TRAFFIC EXCHANGES”, as you did when you joined all of the PTC programs in part one of this guide. You may need to refer back to the instructions laid out in the “Creating Bookmarks” section above to help you set this up.
For reference, I would also advise you to create a simple table containing all the details relating to each Traffic Exchange you join, such as the program name, your user name and password etc.
How to surf for credits
Once you have bookmarked all of your Traffic Exchanges, open your first site from the list by clicking on the Bookmarks menu, scrolling down to your Traffic Exchanges folder then opening which ever site you would like to surf from the drop down list. When you first log in to the TEs you are sometimes shown a screen with a one time offer, but you can choose to skip this by scrolling down the page and clicking the relevant button or text.
Once you’re logged into the first TE, then you’ll then need to open another four windows by clicking File/New tab and opening a different program from the list each time.
Once you’re logged into the members area of each TE you will need to click a button which is usually called “start surfing” or something similar. As soon as you’ve done this, the first ad will appear and the counter will start timing down.
You need to ensure a constant flow of visitors are viewing your site through the Traffic Exchanges and to do this your target should be to surf at least 3,000 pages per week. We’ll look in more detail at how you can break this down in Part 4 of the guide. Back to index
Part 3 - Register With 20 Safelists
It’s an accepted fact amongst virtually all online marketers that e mail marketing is one of the most powerful methods there is of “getting your message out there”. You can e mail literally hundreds of thousands of people each week by using what are known as Safelists... and it won’t cost you a penny!
What is a Safelist?
In simple terms, a safelist is an e mail list made up of members who have given their permission to receive e mails from all of the other members in return for being able to send an e mail out to other members themselves. It is totally free to join a safelist, although you will find paid upgrade options available within each list offering a number of different benefits.
The size of each safelist varies. Some only have several hundred members, whereas others have thousands. Some allow you to send single messages only once a week, whereas others allow you to send several e mails every day.
Credit based safelists are without doubt the most effective. Whenever a member of a credit based list clicks on a web link in another member’s e mail ad, they are awarded credits after viewing the ad for 20 seconds or so. The more credits they earn, the more people they can e mail. In addition to the thousands of regular e mail ads delivered every day, some members also pay to send out what are known as solo ads. These messages are delivered to the contact e mail addresses of each member and you earn more credits when you click on them.
Every person who joins a safelist agrees to receive ad messages from the rest of the list, so you can rest assured that any promotional material you send via the safelist will not be returned as spam. There are however certain rules you need to follow and some genres of site such as adult and gambling related are not accepted
Choosing which safelists to join
Much like the Traffic Exchanges, Safelists also offer generous incentives to those who introduce new members to their program. Traffic Hoopla not only publishes lists of the top Traffic Exchanges, but also has a page linking to the top 10 or 11 Safelists as voted for by their users. You can join each program directly from the members area.
I’ve also included a list of the most effective safelists which I use regularly along with reviews on the E Mail Marketing page of this site.
You need to register with at least 20 sites, but first please remember which of your G mail addresses you are using as your list address and which is going to be your contact address.
You might also find it useful to create a simple table (similar to the one used when joining the PTC programs above) recording the names of all the programs joined, your user name, password and how often you can send mail to other members.
Once you’ve decided which Safelists you’re going to join, you’ll need to bookmark all of the log in pages in a new folder called “SAFELISTS”, as you did when you joined all of the PTC programs in part one of this guide. You may need to refer back to the instructions laid out in the “Creating Bookmarks” section above to help you set this up.
Creating Filters
Once you’ve registered with a number of safelists, you will almost immediately start receiving thousands of e mails in the inbox of your list e mail address. When you’re building up your credits in each safelist it will speed up the process immensely if you can just work your way down several lists of relevant e mails rather than fishing them out of one jumbled inbox and losing track of where you are. By creating e mail filters using Gmail, you are able to separate your e mails according to which safelist they are from.
To create filters you will need to follow the steps below:
1 Go to your inbox and click on an e mail from any one of the safelists (eg Traffic Pro List).
2 Click on the More actions tab then on Filter messages like these from the drop down menu.
